Admission Information of POSTECH Graduate School

Medical Science and Engineering, Graduate School of Convergence Science and Technology (GSCST)

1. Eligibility by Tracks of the Major

All candidates for Medical Science and Engineering at GSCST are required to file an application form after selecting one from the following two tracks:

Subject Physician-Scientist Program Medical Scientist and Medical Engineer Program
Master’s Program Candidates with (or scheduled to acquire) Bachelor's Degree in the field of medical sciences or science/engineering
Integrated Master/Doctoral Program Candidates with (or scheduled to acquire) medical license, dentist's license of Korean medicine as a candidate with (or scheduled to acquire) Bachelor's Degree in the field of medical sciences Candidates with (or scheduled to acquire) Bachelor's Degree in the field of science/engineering (including those majoring in pharmacy & veterinary science)
Doctoral Program Candidates with (or scheduled to acquire) medical license, dentist's license of Korean medicine as a candidate with (or scheduled to acquire) Master's Degree in the field of medical sciences (no limitations on majors for Master's Program Candidates with (or scheduled to acquire) Master's Degree in the field of science/engineering (including those majoring in pharmacy & veterinary science)
2. Admission Process and Evaluation Criteria
1st phase: Document screening
  • (1) Evaluation elements and methods

    Selection of admitted candidates by the academic committee based on academic achievements (GPA), personal statements, research plans and research achievements
  • (2) Evaluation criteria

2nd phase: Oral examination on major or fit interview
  • (1) Evaluation elements and methods

    • Evaluation based on the transcript of the academic year in undergraduate or graduate (doctoral program) school and research plan;
    • Evaluation of basic knowledge and thinking skills in the relevant fields in consideration of the major and department completed;
    • With candidates for doctoral programs, after they are to present the dissertation of Master or the thesis topic studied, the level of knowledge concerning the major fields within the presentation is to be evaluated, and evaluation will be conducted on multidisciplinary education, potentials for research and research plans;
    • Candidates deemed excellent in learning ability may be exempted from the oral examination on the major;
    • Evaluation of aptitude for multidisciplinary research and passion for researches based on fit interviews;
